Heart
Personal legacies are defined by “Did I love well?”, not by prizes or bank accounts. Our life is rendered meaningful through authentic intimacy with those we love. And the source of genuine intimacy is an awakened heart. However, the path to the heart can become obstructed by strong negative beliefs, feelings of unworthiness and, sometimes, self-destructive thoughts and behavior.
Yogic, Taoist and Buddhist contemplative practices are used to awaken the heart. Psychotherapy sessions can include instruction on meditation and other guided exercises to help us:
- Pause and appreciate present experience
- Develop self compassion
- Accept every life circumstance, no matter how painful
- Wash away debilitating emotions such as hostility, envy, worry and doubt
- Respond honorably in high-conflict situations
- Connect with our loving nature
